Civil rights struggle

The Jena article was shocking. I never knew that something so small can be blown into something a whole lot bigger than it really was. One fight turned into an attempted murder case. They way Mr. Bell was treated was far from right. No one shoudl have been put through that for something that was a lot smaller than it actually was. I think the Little Rock and the Jena incidents are similar in some ways. Both stories had students being treated unfairly. All the students in both of the stories are suffering because of somethign that some people do not accept.

A class divided

I think when this ideology is compared the othe film A Class Divided then it is true. Many of the third graders believed that when they were named in the superior group that they were better because of them being superior. They did better on the phonics tests when they were the better part of the class. When they werent superior they did not do so well. They did not care if they were better for other reasons like wealth or the privilige that they have. It was all about the talent and their skills with the test that they took. So, yes the ideology can be true.

Civil rights movement

I think MLK's ideas were most effective in many ways. Malcolm X had many great ideas and he wanted everything to happen no matter what it took for change to happen. In ways it did work but in other ways that got them into some trouble most of the time. MLK's ideas were more realistic and he knew if he did stand up for himself then there would be trouble. So he decided that if everybody just took everything in and had no violence then the change would start. He was right, when some people would get mad at him and became violent with them and they just stood there and took it in and had no comment or even did anything back. Then there would be a bigger effect on people and the civil rights movement. Malcom X had the idea that violence stopped everything but that wasnt the truth at all. At the end of the day MLK's movement was more effective in the civil rights movements.

Holocaust Survivors

These people had it hard. It was never a joke. Fear was the only thing that was in their mind. I would never be able to put up with what they did. I would go crazy, they are truly brave to even talk about the subject. They went through so much nobody truly knows they just hear about they never really know. It is a good thing that they are brave enough to talk because we all learn new things about it everyday. I was shocked with what they were put through.

Cinderella Man Outline

-When James does fight he doesnt make enough money or makes no money at all

Genocide

I think we as US have a lot of power and we can do good with that power. We should not try to stop it but help out those who are going through it to help them fix their country and build everything back up. We should not stop it because we might find ourselves in the middle of the war and we might find ourselves in their same position. The US heloing them get back on track wont be a bad idea because we are so powerful and he have many advantages above other countries.

Approve or "Deny"

Dear Principal,
We should not deny high school aged students from real history. We as high school aged students should be able to know about the truth no matter what. There are some things that are really powerful in history that have happened but we have a right to know what the real truth is. If we do not know the truth then we wont be able to pass on the truth to other people. Just like in the case of the Rape of Nanking most Japenese people did not know what was going on during that time period. Nobody was telling them the truth and they were acting as if they did no wrong. Just like if you were to deny us from the truth then we would think that we did nothing right when thats not true. As you can see, you should let us know the truth about history.

Alcartraz

The goverment thought that Alcratraz was "inescapable" for many reasons. Literally it was inescapable because it on a huge rock and there were not many places to go if you escaped. If you did try to escape you would find yourself basically lost at sea. That was all there was surronding the jail. Figuratively it was inescapable because they thought there would be no way that you could escape from all the bad things that you have and you should pay for it one way or another. They knew one way would be being stook at a jail that was in the middle of no where and there would be no where to go.

Organized Crime

Crime rates started to go up because of the prohibiton. The prohibiton took place in the 1920s and it meant that no alcohol could be sold or manufactured. Many people were upset and felt like they should do something about it. There werent many things that anybody could do. They were fed up about the new laws that were passed so they decided to do something about it and that is when the organized crime all started. Gangsters would met together and just plan these crazy schemes of killing. many infamous gangsters came to light such as Al Capone, Baby Face Nelson and Kate "Ma" Barker just to name a few. They were very slick and had creative ways to kill. Many of them did go to jail.
